Consistency:
1. steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc.
2. the condition of cohering or holding together and retaining form; solidity or firmness.
3. keeping a 2 year old blog just to have the same blog.
Change:
1. to become different
2. (of the moon) to pass from one phase to another.
3. to embrace a new blog that marks the new stage of life.
I even changed it up a bit... made it purdy.
But I have to embrace the new.
It's almost like moving. New place, new hair.
I'm not planning on cutting my hair though. I chopped it in late December and I'm enjoying it while it grows back.
I might be back every once in a while. just for kicks. just for a release. but that's what we all said with xanga. (wow throwback!)
Blogspot friends, you're great! Until I figure out how to follow you via tumblr, I'll be around and read about your lives via here.
My new home of words is here.
I've loved blogspot and I've finally gotten used to it all. but the grown up thing to do is to not try and keep up both. but just one. I'm trying to learn to be decisive.
and now I will bid you all Adeus
Auf Wiedersehen
Arrivederci
Au Revoir
Adios
(I didn't realize how many "goodbye"s started with "A")
See you later

Can't sleep...
Poland is on my mind.
Surprised? Me neither.
I hate it when the devil is THE DEVIL. When he can make you second guess yourself. He can make you think you're doing it wrong. He can make you think all is for not. He can make others doubt.
I've been talking with some family members, all who 100% support me but are just trying to be that "voice of reason". I appreciate them! I love them! But sometimes, faith just has to talk for itself. I have faith that money will come in. I know that God put me in this position. Each time I've started to doubt, God put someone or something else in front of me to let me know He'll take care of me. Once, it was a friend saying they'll support me $200 when she is a self-proclaimed "budget natzi". Another time, it was just a co-worker coming up to me telling me to be bold and courageous and expect God to show up! I hate when the devil can make doubters out of even the strongest of believers.
I know the moment I recognize this... and start to push against this... the devil will just try and get to me another way. It's just the beginning. It's not the first and not the last.
A friend Twittered this and I love it..."The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deepest hunger meet" - F. Buechner
Right now, I'm happy in Louisville! Right now, God is calling me here. I know that soon will be my time to be in Poland! (my deep gladness) I can NOT wait :) I am content here now becuase I know God is teaching me everyday! He's teaching me vital things I'll need to know in Poland! Right now, my mission field is Kentucky. In 23ish days, it'll be POLAND! In 31 days, it'll be Louisville again.
All I know is I have my faith. I know that in all of this, God will be glorified! Some days I'll be distracted by this world. Some days Satan will get to me. But I know I'm nothing without God. I know this is all for Him. Even if all this is just a lesson of patience, boldness, confidence, trust and faith... and the $1,700 doesn't get raised... it won't be for not. He will have taught me a huge lesson! And I'll just continue to prepare for September where I'll try again till God closes a door.
Here's my need...
March is $1,700.
PROeM 12910 Shelbyville Rd., Suite 200, Louisville KY 40243.
My idea is to start fundraising for September, and the first $1,700 will come out for the trip in March. It's all through PROeM and will be all the same account. September's need is about $1,000 a month pledged.
Thanks for keeping my journey in your prayers! It can get crazy, distracting, and down right blaaa! But I'm seeking first the Kingdom. Can't go wrong there :)
If God is for us, who can be against us?? Romans 8:31
I should rest in that answer :)

My turn :)
Happy February! It’s crazy that it is already the second month of 2010! On the 12th, I will have been living here in the Louisville area for two years. Sometimes it feels shorter, sometimes it feels like I’ve been here much longer. I’ve learned a lot while in the eastern time zone; both good and bad. I’ve learned patience when I wanted things to go faster. I’ve learned patience when it snowed in Kansas but not in Kentucky. I’ve learned to trust and rely and fully depend on God when there is really nothing I can do. I’ve learned how to trust that God has everything, including my mom and her cancer, in His hands. I’ve learned how to take that approach and turn it around into smaller things. I’ve learned how to be content where God has me… and actually be content. Well, I’m still working on that one. One more thing I’ve known but have gotten a better picture since being here is my view of “home.”
I have multiple homes. I consider Kansas City my first home. That is where my family and age 5-18 memories happened. That is where my family lives now. Manhattan, Kansas, and Louisville are tied for third. I was born in Manhattan, then returned there for college. Living in Louisville for two years has been amazing and very growing years! I’ve loved every minute of it! I know you’re thinking, “Julie, you missed home #2.” I was saving that one for last. If you know me at all, I think you know where this is going…
Poland. I have to take a deep breath just writing it so as not to be overwhelmed with emotions. Living and working here has provided me multiple opportunities to go and visit other countries. Central Asia, Ethiopia twice, Romania, and Poland again. Each place I visited was amazing and God was working in specific ways. But at the same time, in each place, God was showing me that I belong with the Polish people. In Poland, I also have family. In Poland, I learned valuable lessons. In Poland, I learned how to be content and comfortable on another continent. I could try and put how I feel about Poland in this letter but it wouldn’t be possible. There aren’t enough words, not enough paper and you probably don't have enough time. I could go on for days about the people and their passions. I could also go on for days about what PROeM is doing about it. I could talk your ear off about how I want to help.
This letter is just that. I want to share with you all that I do get to go and help! God has opened doors, (and in some instances, flat out told me I was going) and plans are in the making! There is a group of 13 college/young adult-aged friends from Southeast Christian Church (my home church in Louisville) going to Poland March 12-19. I am going, to help me get ready for when I move to Tomaszow in September. That’s right!! God gave me the go-ahead. It’s my turn to go back! I’m planning on moving mid- to late-September. I've committed to a year. After six to nine months, we will re-evaluate the situation. Does it make sense financially? Do they still need me there? If so, I will re-commit for another year. If not, I will return to the States. I would love to stay for three or four years, if possible!
I will be teaching English and in the preschool and helping with communication between American churches and PROeM. Also, I will be helping with the church plant in Lodz, and helping the staff of PROeM so they can do the ministry they were called to do. I'll do the office work so they can minister. I want to help enable them to do their jobs more effectively!
In order to go in March, I need to raise $1,700 by February 26. In order to move in September, I need to raise pledges of support totaling about $1,000 a month. I also will need money for a plane ticket, apartment start-up costs and a Temporary Residency Visa. I am raising funds through PROeM, so all the funds can go in the same account. If the $1,700 is raised, a check will be sent to Southeast to pay my way. If not enough is raised or more than enough is raised the remaining funds will start growing toward my big move in September. You can send checks to: PROeM 12910 Shelbyville Rd., Suite 200, Louisville KY 40243. Please pray for my preparation, my journey and my transition into Poland.
Let me finish my “home” theme. I have four “homes,” but I only have one Home: my Heavenly Home. I see everything that I do here as a preparation for that capital “H” Home. It's all for His glory, all to bring Him praise. Right now I’m in one home, Louisville, preparing to move to another, Poland. But no matter where I am, which “home” I’m living in, I will be trying to bring as many people “Home to meet my Dad” as I can. Please keep PROeM in your prayers as they’re always under God’s care, but also under Satan’s attack. Pray that I can fit into their mold and help them minister to the Polish people. Pray for our short-term trip that we can be used effectively and can encourage the staff in the best way possible.
Thank you for going on this journey with me! I’ll keep you updated with this blog, but also a new one just for Poland updates:

Unpacking? or Packing.
WHO knows anymore.
In the past 2 years I've moved 5 times. And on August 22nd, I will be moving the 6th time.
Poland->KC KS 8/07
KC->Manhattan KS 8/07
Manhattan->Louisville KY 2/08
Louisville->Sellersburg IN 5/09
Sellersburg moved to the downstairs apt 7/09
about to move back to Louisville 8/09
Although I love traveling, I love moving and going and zipping around, and I love going new places... I don't love moving. I'm getting kinda tired of it and would like to stay in one place. Each of the moves have been shorter than the one before. This last time since moving has been 4 weeks so it will be a total of 6 weeks in one place. Oi.
One good thing though, since I moved to Louisville I've been living alone. The house I will be moving into is with 3 of my girlfriends (and across the street from 3 other friends) a few blocks from UofL's campus. So it won't be as quiet as it is now! It will probably be the opposite of quiet. But, y'all know I like to talk and am a night owl, so it won't be too bad ;)
God just continues to provide for me and my family! A former co-worker, Chris Ball, said that I had the spiritual gift of mooching. Haha! Well, here it goes again. I found out Thursday that I had to be out of my current house by November. I'm living in a house owned by the Church and They will need it then. I was going to move in with a friend, but she ended up backing out. So I would either have to find a roommate, or move into an apartment by myself and have to furnish it all. That day, I was reminded that one of my friends was getting married and would be moving out of her house... on Thursday night. So I went from having to move out and possibly living alone and furnishing a whole apt- to having a place where I will be able to just move right into a furnished house (borrowing a bed)!! So, Chris, here I go again!
There is some possible other amazing news... coming soon... coming very soon...
about September of next year 2010.
I don't want to say much yet, but it could mean another move. But this one I've been waiting for for 2 years........
I'll leave y'all with the hanger :) (although you might be able to guess it)

99 red balloons.
ok, this really doesn't have to do with balloons... at all. But it was better than "99 bottles of beer on the wall"
Today is 99 days from my mom's (bone marrow)transplant!!!!!!!!!
Friday is 100!
My mom said it best in a text from tonight. I sent her one saying "TOMORROW!!!" and she responded with this.
"I know.... I feel like crying with joy every time I think of it. We serve a Mighty Mighty God!"
I can't say it better! The text pretty much sums up my mom's look on the entire situation!
She is awesome, strong, lovely, a wonderful teacher, an amazing mother, a beautiful wife, a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. She has the strength to fight her cat's argument to get more food and strong enough to fight from crying when the procedures hurt. She is lovely- inside and out. She is a God-fearing/God-adoring woman! When I didn't understand what the heck was going on and all the technical medical terms were, she talked me through it on the phone when we were over 522 miles apart. She is still the listening mother when I need her, even if I wake her up from a nap, she'll refuse to say that I was bothering her. She still cares for and appreciates all the help my dad can give her. She is the perfect match for him. She is the strong one in the family, if someone breaks down, she'll say "this is just for now, God'll make it work one way or the other and we get to live with it." She is the bravest, goofiest and loveliest woman I've known and I would love to be half the amazing woman she is. I would/will do anything for her. Anything. :)
Friday, July 10, 2009 is 100 days from the transplant!!!!!!
After some blood tests (and some other jazz that I can't remember) she'll start her 80 day journey of transitioning back into 'real world'. She'll slowly be able to go in public, go to church, work eventually, and get back up to snuff! There are still (and probably will always be) some limits and warnings... but that's never stopped her before. If the doctors give her the ok, I'm sure she would go skydiving if given the chance! (She told me she wanted to!)
I'm sooo excited that she's had such a positive attitude/influence so far... I can't even imagine what's to come!
Love ya Mama!

RIP puppy car....
Today I said an official "goodbye" to my car.
I've owned four cars now. Just got a new one 3 weeks ago.
My first car was a gold '89 Honda Civic He lived for 6-7 months until I got my second car. He was there for my Junior year of High School. The civic was handed up to my brother who promptly ran her into the ground. Not even a month after the transfer, the poor little darling was dead.
My second car was a little blue 94 Ford Escort hatchback. He lived over the summer after Junior year of High school. Over the summer, there was a day that my brother's AC didn't work, so he borrowed my car. The highway was not his friend that day. Mr. Hatch was no longer a hatch. He was just a "hat". That's when "smale car rotation" number 3 happened.
My third and most loved car is my '90 Subaru Legacy. (how she looked in her prime) Zut was a 5 speed, beautiful car! Yes, she had rust on almost every corner. Yes, she had her flaws... but she was a wonderful car! We had her for 6 years. 130,000 miles! I had her since senior year, through 4ish years to and from college, then from KS to KY to IN. I love love loved that silver 5 speed! (I won many a race in her! but shh...) In her last few months, she fought back. Without mentioning the "Tommy Boy" hood flipping onto my windshield incident, I'll say she went down gracefully.
Well, I had to get a more reliable car now that I live in a new city which happens to be in a new state. Car number 4 is a light goldish '98 Mazda Prodege Haven't named him/her yet... but I'm working on it. So far it's doing really well! It's not a stick, but other than that, it's wonderful! low millage... and it's mine!! Fun story about how I got it! My friend told me her Gramma has a car that she doesn't drive anymore and needs new dentures. So, they were going to sell the car for dentures. 57k miles for a '98 driven by a gramma... deal of a lifetime!
I didn't tell of The subaru's death because it didn't happen until tonight. Zut's story is also a conversation starter. I parked her at my friend's house when I first got the new car. (I couldn't drive 2 at the same time) Her mom was going to take it to the church so I could get a ride there- then drive her to the car ministry here at my church for parts. She was going to, but the battery was dead so she went back into the house. Well.... about 14 seconds later she heard a small noise. She went outside and looked. no car. She had forgotten to put the parking break on. My car backed itself down the hill into the tree. now my trunk is an accordion. (Kinda funny.. I laughed! sad sight but it was kinda funny)
So I went tonight to get the last bits out and they're going to tow her tomorrow. She'll be parted apart soon. Parts of her will be all over Louisville. She was a wonderful car. I'll miss her dearly!
I had to write a small tribute to my Subaru. She had been such a huge part of my life. She got me though senior year of HS, 3 years of college, a fall trying to get back to Poland, a trek to Kentucky, who knows how many road trips, and around cities. Zut, you'll always have a place in my heart. Never will I drive a manual car without thinking of my first love.

Never will I drive a manual car without thinking of my first love.

too. life. fast. going. is.
Moving on with the cruse set on 55mph.
Because that is the speed limit. And the state troopers' lair is on my exit.

These are my friends :)
(Justin, Seth, Kelsey, Brent, Shane, Meagan, Todd and me)
We spent many an evening after watching The Office and playing cards. Whether it be nerts, poker, apples to apples, bananagrams (not cards) or just standing around talking- it was always one of the best parts of my week. The girls made countless desserts, we had many dinners (some pot luck, some not), we had grilled burgers (thanks to the guys) and a few special dinners (kebabs). We played softball, volleyball, basketball, and of course ping pong.
This year of interning has been one of the best years in my life. All the interns have grown so close. But it has to come to an end sometime. We have to move on. We have to grow up. We all knew the day in May would come... but none of us wanted it to come. I started early then ended early but still was at Southeast Christian Church for 14 months. I was able to grow close to my mission team as well as the interns. We are all around the same age and in similar early stages of adulthood. Being in these situations, we've grown into family.
As I start my 4th week at my new, real, official, adult job tomorrow... I think of how fast our lives are going by. The weeks and months are starting to pick up speed! I love my job for multiple reasons, one of which that it's close enough to Louisville that I can keep up my friendships I've worked on for a year and a half. (I'll talk about my new job soon... but this time I'm just thinking back.) The switch over to Southern Indiana from Louisville could be easier if there was a clean break from the life I had before. It would be easier to get connected with new friends. But, I'm glad I don't have to cut connections! I'm blessed to have such a great group of friends and interns and "family" that I can carry over into another state!
This group of friends will always be like family to me. We got through a softball team, a few new card/tile games, an Office season, who knows how many ping pong balls, a wonderful trip across the ocean to Ethiopia, a few too many "that's what she said" jokes, and an amazing year full of memories. I know we've all learned so much and grown so much. I can't really put it all into words how much they all mean to me. Love is a word to just to begin to describe these friends.
But I don't want to end this part of the chapter...
